When the comparison lies between these two people as the Prime Ministerial Candidate, on one side we see a sharp political brain with the enormous backing from the party and on the other side we have somebody who is deemed to be the epitome of a developing Nation but lesser support from his party contemporary. Thus we have Sonia Gandhi from Congress Major UPA Govt. on one side while on the other side we have BJP’s trump card Narendra Modi. Thus let us have a small comparison between the achievements, supports, roles and attributes of these two political veterans

An Italian by birth, Sonia Gandhi have moved on to India after her marriage to former Prime Minister of India – Rajiv Gandhi. She enjoys incomparable backing from the entire UPA coalition team along with Congress and thus having is considered to have the final word in Congress.

The present Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, is looked upon as the icon of a developing State/Nation. He has been recognized over China, USA and many other reputed countries for his extraordinary work for Gujarat. But the main problem with him being a Prime Ministerial candidate is the lack of proper support from both BJP and the NDA coalition. It is an open secret that the veteran BJP leader L.K Advani and Modi does not sync up together properly. Moreover, CM of Bihar Nitish Kumar have openly opposed Modi as a Prime Ministerial candidate. Modi somehow needs to gather the confidence of these two people if he really wants to grab the supreme seat. However, the only ray of hope, from support perspective, seems to be coming from BJP President Nitin Gadkari who have shown his support towards Mr. Modi.

Narendra Modi

Sonia Gandhi’s role is more on a managerial track rather than doing the developmental work herself. Mrs. Gandhi has proved her ability in Politics during the selection of Prime Ministerial candidate during 2004 election. That decision of her to project Mr. Manmohan Singh as PM of India is considered to be one of the most vital decision to success of UPA till now. So from the point of taking diplomatic decisions, she is incomparable.

When the point of Developmental works comes in Narendra Modi stands out among any number of people in India. He is known worldwide for the phenomenal work he has done for Gujarat. Agriculture, Manufacturing, IT, Tourism, Social development – infact he has worked for the development of the state in every field.
So if the point of Activities is concerned, Mr. Modi is the only choice in whole India.

Sonia Gandhi

Narendra Modi

Although IAC has not transformed into a mass group till now, still we cannot rule out their support for winning the election. From the recent activities and agitation by IAC and Baba Ramdev, it is quite clear that no member of Congress is going to get any support from this team.

Although members of Team Anna like Arvind Kejriwal have already shown that they are not in sync with Modi, but others like Baba Ramdev and Modi have been seen to be in the same stage, together. So partial support to Mr. Modi is expected.

Inspite of being in India for over 3 decade and having such an upper hand in Congress, the one point that has been haunting Mrs. Gandhi to be projected as a PM candidate is that she is from a foreign country by birth. I don’t know whether there is any legal obligation for a foreign national to be the PM of India, but it is really an issue for her.

It is not a hidden fact that BJP does not have a clear support from one section of the society and vice-versa. So before the elections also, this section will obviously think of their future and safety and thus the BJP will most probably lose more that 20 Crore votes without any fight at all.
Another Important fact is that although court has cleared his name from 2002 Gujarat riot case, but it does not seems to stop haunting Modi every now and then.

Having said that, lets take a quick list of Probable Candidates from our point of view.

1. The First Choice should have been Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. But with him being selected as the 13th President of India, the 1st and probably the best choice is ruled out.

2. Sonia Gandhi - Come on..Lets admit this. If she had to be in the chair, then she would have really been there in 2004 or at max in 2009. Reasons may be any, but we can definitely assume that she is not the PM candidate. She would always be the King/Queen maker, but not the Queen herself.

3. P.Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal, Digvijay Singh, Sharad Pawar – Even a lay man like me with least political knowledge would say that it does not even seem to be an option to be considered for reasons better untold.

4. Young brigade like Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, Sachin Pilot or someone of this stature – Really doubt, as Mrs. Gandhi would never let his Son down with such a decision. She would never let anyone of his son’s stature assume a superior position than him.

5. Somone from Strong Ally Brigad like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee – How is this even possible that Congress would even allow someone to dictate over them when they are the majority.

6. Dr. Manmohan Singh – When Dr. Singh took over the Prime Minister’s chair in 2004, he was seen as such a gentlemen that no one would even dare to raise a finger at his integrity, ability or Personality. A man of extra ordinary Genius, Education and Gentlemanship, Dr. Singh is undoubtedly a great Politician. But it seems like he has lost all his credibility by keeping his mouth shut for the entire period of his Prime Ministerial Tenure till today. When you are in the commanding position of a family, you do need to take over some responsibility, you need to speak out, moreover you need to make decision. If you want to be just good a guy by following silence, then better dont be the head of a family, and thats what is the general conception. But Dr. Singh has proved his inability as a PM, so much so that even in Times Magazine he has been termed as an “UnderAchiever” – Such a shame. Would Congress like to project such a person as a PM anymore? This is really a good question specially in a dicey situation with the absence of an alternative.

7. Now comes one the most probable term : The Gandhi Scion, Son of Former Prime Minister Rajib Gandhi and the King Maker Sonia Gandhi, GrandSon of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Great Grandson of 1st Prime Minister of Independent India Jawaharlal Nehru, the Gandhi Scion – Rahul Gandhi. There is so much prefix to his name, but it hardly seems that there is any other achievement associated with him. When Rahul Gandhi spoke about getting Nuclear Power in India in the Parliament, he was undoubtedly thought of to be leader of Next Gen Congress. But with his attitude of staying under the cover of other veterans and not taking any blow directly, he has lost his credibility as well. Moreover with the huge loss of election in UP against a less familiar name of Akhilesh Yadav, his popularity has decreased a lot. But again, if he is not projected this time, then would congress place his name. Time seems to be running out of his hand. So, with the support of his Mother and the backing of Entire Congress, he seems to be one of the most preferable Congress Candidate for Prime Ministerial Post.

8. Now Now Now, as many people might not have thought off, who knows- another name might get projected. Sonia Gandhi has always been known to be a perfect politician and she might play out the grand stroke this time by projecting None other than Her and Rajib’s own Daughter – Priyanka Bhadra (Gandhi). With a look which representing the mighty Indira Gandhi, with Awesome a personality and more importantly no bad track record, she certainly satisfies all the conditions along with the most condition of being a person of Madam’s Choice. Priyanka has recently joined active politics and could well be seen along with his Mother and Brother in the Major events. And when you have Gandhi Blood running in your veins, no one needs to teach you politics.

But who knows what is running within the Brain of Madam Gandhi. Obviously she would be thinking something special, something which is unthinkable, but good for Congress. May be this is why she is the King maker, may be this is why she is the chief of Congress, and that is why she is Sonia Gandhi

Comparison – The term itself signifies a common platform where two or more individual/material/object or whatever are assessed on the basis of the strong and weak points of each of them. With the impending 2014 elections, and with the Huge unpopularity of the Honorable Prime Minister over the issue of Being a PM, the general question has come over. The question is – Who deserves to be the Next Prime minister of the Largest Democracy of the World, India.

Unless Anna Hazare comes up with his special magic of creating a new Political Party, it appears that the main contest will be between UPA and BJP Govt. BJP is still to decide on their Prime Ministerial Candidate, but the Sole name which came out is Mr. Narendra Modi, the Extra-Ordinary figure, who has changed the face of Gujarat and turned it out to be one of the Fastest Developing Cities not only in India but one among the World. Against him a expected candidate and a strong one is the Golden boy of UPA, the Gandhi Scion, Mr. Rahul Gandhi. Mr. Gandhi has already shown up his Image as a Youth Leader and was successful in mobilizing and leading the Next Gen UPA Youth Leaders of India, consisting of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Agatha Sangma and many more. So, let’s have a comparison between the two.

1.

Political Party Support

After the retirement of Veteran leader and Former Prime Minister of India, Mr. Atal Bihari Bajpayee, BJP has been struggling to even find a suitable leader for their Party. Although many leader within BJP do not support the way of execution of Mr. Modi, he seems to be the only man who can be fit for the Post, unless Mr. Advani gives it a desperate last Try at the age of 84.

Being the Scion of the Gandhi family, being the son and the Grandson of former Prime Ministers of India and very importantly being the Son of Smt. Sonia Gandhi, who is presently the President of Indian National Congress, he will be someone who can claim the full support of his team once he is decided to be the candidate.

2.

India Against Corruption Support

In the Current Political Scenario of India, we cannot rule out point that whomever IAC supports, will get some extra Advantage. IAC has never said that they support BJP, but Anna himself have praised Mr. Modi for his marvelous work in Gujarat. So if he is the Prime Ministerial candidate, we might expect a bit of their Support, if not fully.

IAC’s campaign is against corruption and presently Govt. is their prime target where they have proved many UPA leaders to be corrupt. So it is obvious that anyone can get IAC’s support, but not Mr. Gandhi

3.

Work/Activities/Achievements

When the Name of Mr. Modi comes in, I bet, even Mr. Gandhi won’t be saying a word regarding the phenomenal work he has done for Gujarat. Agriculture, Manufacturing, IT, Tourism, Social development – infact he has worked for the development of the state in every field.
So if the point of Activities is concerned, Mr. Modi is the only choice in whole India.

At only 40, Mr. Gandhi has still not got the opportunity to execute any developmental work. So unless we give him the opportunity, we cannot speak about his abilities.
Although, he has shown quite a good job in mobilizing the Youth of the Country and this activity has claimed him to be the Youth Icon of India

4.

Image

We should always understand that a Prime Minister is not only known for his work, but for being the PM, the Image that someone possesses is also of utmost importance.
Mr. Modi has formulated his image to be a determined man with the Desire and more importantly ability to do betterment for the People. Speaking of the negative side, he is image is hugely tainted regarding the 2002 Gujarat Riots. But again, with Supreme court clearing him of all the charges, his image will be revived a lot.

At least till the last few months, Mr. Gandhi’s image was that of the Next-Gen India. His actions, body language, way of speaking in the Parliament, clearly revealed him as a strong personality. Very importantly being Gandhi scion, his image is 100% to the Hard core Congress followers.
But over his inability to handle the Situation regarding Jan Lokpal Bill and his extended speech during the Zero hour while Anna was on fast, have undoubtedly lowered his image to a lot.

5.

Age and Experience

Born in 1950, Mr. Modi is around 60+, Mr. Modi does have his experience as a Plus point

Although Rahul is only 40+, he still does show promise. It’s the People of India to decide whether this promise is Good Enough.

6.

Negativity

It is not a hidden fact that BJP does not have a clear support from one section of the society and vice-versa. So before the elections also, this section will obviously think of their future and safety and thus the BJP will most probably lose more that 20 Crore votes without any fight at all.

UPA Govt. has made Secularity as their USP. So, this is a huge advantage to gather more votes.
But the main problem with their image is their corrupt Ministers and associates. Even if Mr. Gandhi shows extreme willingness to stop corruption, it’s still a big doubt whether he can go against the vote bank of such corrupt leaders.

Its easy to generalize the act of corruption, but tougher is to point out the examples. Being an Indian, I know that corruption is rampant in every part of the Country – from Top to Bottom. But let me point out 2 places where sheer Endeavour of the Govt. is responsible for the development of the development of the State.

Gujarat – Although Mr. Narendra Modi have been criticized for the Deadly Riot some time back, but what he has done for the last few years have been exemplary. With the Idea of Zero toleration for Corruption, this man has single handedly worked for the development of the People in every sector – from Agriculture to Infrastructure, from IT to Mobility, from Tourism to Manufacturing—all the sectors are booming like heaven. Its never like he has got extra funds or got extra-ordinary people, but what he has done is – channelizing the funds and recreate Money from Money. And all this at the expense of two simple concepts

Honest Intension and determination

Zero tolerance against corruption

Tripura – Trust me, I am the last person to be politically inclined, but what the Govt. has done in the State of Tripura, India is really noteworthy. Tripura, a place land locked on all sides and at the extreme corner of North-East India, is of least political or Economic significance w.r.t. India as a whole. During our teens, we could not go for a tour at the outskirts of Agartala in the fear of Terrorist activities. This had a direct impact on the socio-economic life of the State. The Night-Super Bus service, which ran between Agartala and North Tripura has been totally removed and never renewed. The people staying in South or North Tripura were really at a harsh situation, especially if there was any need to come to the Capital.

All these have been solved to a large extent by the proper work of the Govt. The terrorism has been completely eradicated. The result of this is proper communication between North to South Tripura. The Govt. heaven introduced the much awaited Rail line, which is on the verge of further extension. The roads at the capital are really good. There are many more incidents/examples. Everyone has got their shortcomings, so does our Govt. have. But what they have done in the last is really noteworthy..

I am neither a Politics Fanatic nor do I have a good General Knowledge. I believe in facts and have faith in the works that a person does.

When Anna Hazare started his fast, the modern India was taken by shiver. People say that they have seen 21st Century Gandhiji. And rightly he did it. At a time when the west is busy demonstrating it Missile power, Anna, almost single handedly shook the entire Indian Govt. and forced them to take some action which they should have taken long back. Thus Lokpal Bill was Introduced and with it started India against Corruption. The action of Anna was hailed by a Billion Indian.

Then came Baba Ramdev Chapter. The Yogi Maestro, who is already a Godly figure World over, is assisting Anna in his Movement Against Corruption. It is now his turn to put forward his demands. With the motto to end Corruption in India, he decides to follow Anna’s footsteps and decided to go on Fasting. His main demand is to Get all the Black money that is held in Swiss banks back to India. The amount is big enough to revive the entire Economy of India overnight.

People have already started blaming him, saying him a Businessman, saying that he earns money by selling Yoga, that he is doing all these to move into politics etc etc. I have few points to make at this moment.

Ramdev as a person : I dont know how do we blame a person who has helped a billion Indians with the help of yoga. A person who made us believe that how Strong was Ancient Indian Ayurveda, and that it has the cure to even Cancer and he even Proved that. The act of Kapalbhati has become a day to day activity of Millions and all that for free over Television.

Business : Is it like Ashtha channel gives the Entire channel free for Baba Ramdev’s Activity? Is it like all the classes he organizes, or all the staffs he recruits are all funded by the Govt. or the opposition or someone else? Is it like all the medicine that he prepares are freely available? If not, then what mistake is he doing in Getting money from People. Even in Indian Mythology there is “Gurudakshina” for teaching. Tell me the name of a Single doctor who cures his patients for free, he cant, as he even needs to earn his livelyhood.

Politics :

Other Politicians Views: I don’t under why all the politicians are so much afraid of him getting into politics. Are they afraid that Ramdev’s Party, headed by Anna Hazare has the capability to overthrew all the existing Parties?

General Public View : We do blame Politicians for not doing anything. We blame them for being corrupt. But none of us dares to plunge into the Mud and Try to clean it up. Now when a person with such a stature and backed by Anna Himself, comes into the idea of getting into politics why are the people blaming him saying all his activities are politics oriented?

A single person might not be with much of abilities, but a handful is always a punch, and a group of Punches can bring on any revolution any time. The renaissance that occurred in Europe during 14th – 18th Century, I guess its the time for India to bring it on. Lets help Anna, Baba Ramdev and Entire India against Corruption Team.

Lets hope for a corruption free India.

Cricket is more Batsmen oriented game and that’s the reason people say that bowlers have very few to do when a batman is on form. When Stuart Broad was hit for 6 sixes in an over, you could even forgive him as it came of shear genius of Yuvi. Broad did try to bowl properly and all balls were good length ones andtrying to be positive. But what we saw today was, for me, a utter non-sense. A disrespect to the Excellent batting performance by his fellow Team Mates and a sense of hopelessness for All the Fans of KKR. How can a guy bowl 3 full-toss balls in last over, of which 2 went for thick edge into the boundary and one came of the last ball for a Big six, and thus shattering all the hopes of KKR and leaving them in utter demoralized state just before the semis. I don’t know how this will be interpreted by the reviews of Cricketing Genius but I really dint like his performance, neither his attitude.

Since time inception the tribal ruler of Tripura were not only the patrons of art and culture, but a number of them were great exponents in different creative fields. The modern era began with Maharaja Birchandra Manikya who was a man of art, culture and creative activities. Maharaja Birchandra after losing his wife Bhanumati Devi was passing through a phase of deep sorrow and shocks. During this stage of sorrow the composition of verse by “Bhagna Hriday” made the Maharaja to get introduced with the wonderful creation of Rabindranath Tagore, the versatile genius and famous Nobel Laureate. Thus began the intimate relationship the princely state of Tripura with Tagore.

The beauty of history of Tripura attracted Rabindranath Tagore to the princely state of Tripura for (7) seven times. He visited Tripura in invitation of the contemporary ruler .The Close relation of Tagore with this state and for four successive rulers forms an important chapter in the history of Tripura.

From Bir Chandra Manikya to Bir Bikram Manikya, the kings of Tripura had extended generous financial support to Rabindranath to fulfill his dream regarding “Viswa Bharati” at Shantiniketan. This assistance took the form of annual grants renowned artist Like Dhirendra Kisore Debbarman and the Manipuri dance expert Buddhimanta Singh, were deputed to “Viswa Bharati” as contribution from Tripura. Maharaja Bir Bikram, accompanied by other royal personage, visited “Viswa Bharati” and conferred the title of “Bharat Bhaskar” to Rabindranath Tagore.

The unique bondage of love and affection between the people of Tripura and Rabindranath is never ending. The famous works like “Bisharjan”, “Rajarshi” and “Mukut’ are based on the events of the Royal family of Tripura.Rabindranath is still an inspiration for the both tribal and non tribal residing here. A grateful poet was effusive in his praise of the kings and the people of Tripura. On the auspicious occasion of the poet’s 150th birth anniversary the people of Tripura are reminded of the poet’s immortal lines on the state: “when the woodlands of Tripura have sent out invitations to their floral feast through their courier of the south wind, I have come as a friend”.

Salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill

1. An institution called LOKPAL at the centre and LOKAYUKTA in each state will be set up

2. Like Supreme Court and Election Commission, they will be completely independent of the governments. No minister or bureaucrat will be able to influence their investigations.

3. Cases against corrupt people will not linger on for years anymore: Investigations in any case will have to be completed in one year. Trial should be completed in next one year so that the corrupt politician, officer or judge is sent to jail within two years.

4. The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction.

5. How will it help a common citizen: If any work of any citizen is not done in prescribed time in any government office, Lokpal will impose financial penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complainant.

6. So, you could approach Lokpal if your ration card or passport or voter card is not being made or if police is not registering your case or any other work is not being done in prescribed time. Lokpal will have to get it done in a month’s time. You could also report any case of corruption to Lokpal like ration being siphoned off, poor quality roads been constructed or panchayat funds being siphoned off. Lokpal will have to complete its investigations in a year, trial will be over in next one year and the guilty will go to jail within two years.

7. But won’t the government appoint corrupt and weak people as Lokpal members? That won’t be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and constitutional authorities and not by politicians, through a completely transparent and participatory process.

8. What if some officer in Lokpal becomes corrupt? The entire functioning of Lokpal/ Lokayukta will be completely transparent. Any complaint against any officer of Lokpal shall be investigated and the officer dismissed within two months.

9. What will happen to existing anti-corruption agencies? CVC, departmental vigilance and anti-corruption branch of CBI will be merged into Lokpal. Lokpal will have complete powers and machinery to independently investigate and prosecute any officer, judge or politician.

10. It will be the duty of the Lokpal to provide protection to those who are being victimized for raising their voice against corruption.

With the Entire nation dancing in joy on the World cup victory, the sole buzz were the Men in Blue. But its a past now. Past – not to overshadow the greatness of World Cup win, but for a greater cause. A cause which might bring about a revolution. I want to ask you people – how many times in ur life you have seen Indians fighting together for a broader cause. A cause which is not restricted to their household affair, rather one unified and fighting for the entire nation as a whole.

Q: So what is this All about?

Q: What is Jan Lok Pal Bill?
Ans : The Lokpal will be a three-member body with a chairperson who is or was a chief justice or Supreme Court judge, and two members who are or have been high courts judges or chief justices. Implementation of the Lokpal bill will hopefully reduce corruption in India. The basic idea of the Lokpal is borrowed from the office of the ombudsman in other countries. It provides for filing complaints of corruption against the prime minister , other ministers and members of parliament with the ombudsman. Anyone, except for a public servant , can file a complaint and the Lokpal has to complete the inquiry within six months. For 42 years, governments have tried to put in place the law but still not in practice.
