Cause of world’s Biggest Power Failure in India: 600 Million effected

India, 31.07.2012: Putting around 600 Million people into Darkness, the biggest Power Faliure have rocked the entire country during the end of July 2012. A failure in such a huge scale is unique all over the world.

National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC) has issued a report saying that some North Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab have been drawing more power from Northern Grid than authorised. This is the main cause behind the kind of grid failure witnessed yesterday.

Recently in May this year, the Central Electricity Regulatory Authority (CERC) had issued notices to the State Load Dispatch centres (SLDCs) of UP, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana asking them to halt overdrawing power from the Northern Grid.

CERC had already asked the SLDCs of the above states to be prepared to buy additional power in order to meet the anticipated demand during summer, but the states could not take notice and did not maintain the grid discipline.

Right now 22 States of India are efefcted with 3 Power Grids failure
